Hi,
Looking at replacing my hard tail for a hybrid for my 16 mile communte on road and a mile on a track.

Currently work are doing a cycle to work scheme through Halfords and have been and like the look and feel of the Boardman hybrid pro for £799.00.

What other bike can people recommend for about £800 - £900 before i take the plunge.

Thanks in advance

What a shame not to be able to enjoy the joys of a road bike for one solitary mile of track :(

You want a CX bike mate :)

What's the track like? Is it proper mud, stones and tree roots, or are we talking finely-packed gravel/dirt?

Seriously the Boardman should be fine as long as the track isn't too bad . Howver I do think that sort of money for any hybrid is questionable. Spesh Tricross Sport springs to mind as an alternative....

Fixed gear for wet weather / hairy roadie for posing in the sun.

    What would Thora Hurd do?

What you need is a recumbent.

This poor guy has come on here looking for help from us lot. Right smack bang into the middle of a hybrid hellstorm of hatred, haranging and hysteria.

God help him... Oh, and buy a CX bike. It makes sense. :P

(seriously - I WAS going to get a hybrid at first and then discovered CX, I have never looked back)

The track is most potholes and gravel. However i do go up and down kerbs to get to the roads.

In that case you need a BMX. The diameter of their wheels is small enough to allow them to be legally ridden on the pavement. FACT.

I live in Newcastle in the NE.

I was only looking if the Boardman was good value or if somebody could recommend another bike.
