Morning All
Hows it going?
Just a quick question that I'm sure I should know the answer to or at least find with a "search" but so far no joy
Im considering replacing the rear shock (05 Fox Float RL) on my Rocky MOuntain Slayer 50 (05). I cant find any technical details on the RM website or on Silverfish.com so wondered how you measure a rear shock?

i2i fully open i2i fully closed (take any bump stop off that. take small from big to give strok and there you are.
or just tell the place where you are getting it from what bike it is for and then they can provide the correct size shock and the correct shock fitting kit for your frame as not all shocks use the same size DU bushes (length and diameter)."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

so presumably you let the air out of the shock to get these measurements and have to remove it from frame?0

are air shock. have fun as you need to know what the bump stop size is as you will not be able to measure it so you will not be able to work out the stroke."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

and the bump stop is what and how would you go about measuring it?0

the bit of rubber on the shaft to stop damage at full compression.
Inside your air shock."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

ok so to clarify then to find out the size of the shock I have to:
remove it from the frame,
let out all the air,
take off the can cover,
measure the bump stop,
measure i2i fully open and closed,
subtract bumpstop size.
About right?0 -
about.
so you have the length and the stroke."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Well I shall get busy then, expect more questions I'm sure...
