Do you need special tools to tighten carbon components ie seat post and bars ? - hear of a torque wrench - or torque spanner ?

How do they work ? are they portable ? and how much do they cost ?

its def reccomended you use a torque wrench around carbon fibre. Its probably not a bad thing to use anyway to avoid over/under adjusting any component. Some are really pricey but I picked one up from Evans for just shy of 50 notes. Annoyingly it didn't come with the actual allen keys but they are cheap from halfords 3-4 pounds each.

sorry seemed to miss half your questions. They work by setting the torgue on the spanner and they click when you have hit the right level. Depends what you mean by portable I guess - I wouldn't carry one on a ride, its bigger than a mini pump and heavyish too

This one will do everything on the bike, apart from BB cups and Ultratorque Bolt on Campag chainsets. Includes the tools as well.

Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos

I cannot recommend the Ritchey Torq key enough - it's fantasically easy to use, small, portable, cheap, does exactly what you need. It's my toolbox favourite.

PS it won't do any other things you might want a torque wrench for e.g. crankbolts, but it's soooo much easier to use on bars and seatposts.

I bought the Effetto torque wrench for £87 without all the bits! ( i already had the bits i needed ). It's very compact, portable and well made.
