Made an order last wednesday everything on screen said was in stock, got a phone call friday to say 2 of the items were out of stock so waited for the other 3 items, they have arrived this morning, should have been a new bottle and cage and a Topeak pump, instead they have sent me the bottle and cage and a Topeak bottle cage, i think you can tell the difference between a cage and a pump now i have to go to the trouble of sending the unwanted cage back and they will refund any postage it just isn't good enough, in recent weeks i have ordered from Wiggle, Chain Reaction and UK Bike Store all with no problem and quick delevery i defo won't be ordering anything from Tredz again,

A bit harsh isn't it? One mistake and then they're black listed. (Or are they always like this?) What are they like to speak with? Personally if the after sales service was good then I would prob buy again from the same shop. Everyone is human and can make mistakes.0

I never make mistakes but it was an acumiliation of things first not having the items in stock when they say they did, then the lateness of the delivery it says 2-7 days but you don't take that literally, then the wrong items sent, i think everyone else would have just felt the same.Trek Fuel EX 7 29er 2014

You might just make the odd mistake you know...0 -
I do know what you mean, saying in stock and not is wrong, full stop.
I run a shop myself so know every now and then I screw up and send the wrong quantity and stuff.
Could have been worse i used an online printer cartridge company, two years on and loads of contact with trading standards and still no cartridges or refunds.
At least the gear arrived !
Oh and get your spelling in check :-)0 -
Very funny, don't you guys be getting like a watch forum i used to be on they took themselves far too seriuosly, i literally had a cyber fight with a few of them because they kept making comments about my punctation and grammer, when you type quick you can't be arsed to go over every single thing you type checking for spelling and weather you've used the right wording. its not like a letter for work or anything, thats what i like about this forum there are loads of posts where i could have made a comment but i don't think people on here are too fussed not like the knobs on the watch forum.Trek Fuel EX 7 29er 2014

Sorry Law but an internet forum gives an indication of the type of person you are.
If you spell and punctuate badly, people assume you aren't too bright (unless you are dyslexic) and will probably not treat you with the respect you may deserve.
I run a business which involves a lot of writing so tend to notice mistakes more than others but if someone submitted a CV with any spelling errors, I'd chuck it away.
We all make the odd typo, we all miss out the odd full stop but typing threads that are actually hard work to read doesn't do you any favours.
So while you may think it doesn't matter, others may take a dim view of you. A bit like using manners - not essential but always welcome.

Not that i am getting into anything here but i don't think you can compare a CV for a job to posting on this forum, of course if i ever had to do a CV it would be perfect, but luckily i have never had to write a CV in my 15 years of employment, actually come to think of one of those on the watch forum was called Matt, i see your into bikes too.Trek Fuel EX 7 29er 2014

Matt is hardly a rare name though...
I did post on one a few times when I was looking for a G Shock though. I now have two - not quite in the league of those that have about a hundred.0 -

But what do you want them to do? Pay you for your time? Give you the wrong item for nothing? Send a SAE to you so you don't have to write out the address?
Ask yourself why you are purchasing online and not at your local bike shop. Presumably for reasons of cost. Over the years, how much money have you saved by making careful purchases on line? Is it so bad to expect that the downside of online purchases is that occasionally you end up with the wrong thing and are put to a little inconvenience that you would never have had to put up with if you had gone to the local shop? Can't have it both ways.Faster than a tent.......0 -

Gday Rolf you presume wrong i mainly shop online for convienience as i don't want to spend any free time i have going round shops looking for the particular things i want. I started this thread mainly to compare my recent good experiences purchasing online to the bad one and it wasn't just getting the item wrong if you have read the thread fully you will see there were a few other points i wasn't happy with.Trek Fuel EX 7 29er 2014

I did read the thread - the only other point (singular - that the parts were late because of them not being in stock is only one issue; if they'd been in stock, they wouldn't have been late. If they'd been on time, that they were out of stock initially wouldn't have mattered) I noticed you not being happy about was that 3 items weren't in stock though the computer said they were. That does happen and is irritating but, if they'd got the order correct, you'd still have had everything within a week of ordering (as per terms and conditions) which is hardly worth getting into a flap about.
As for your other point - OK then, my presumption still stands. Rather than saving money, you save time by shopping online. However, occasionally you do get some time lost due to problems like this one. You have still saved a vast amount of time over the years shopping on line. Be happy about that but accept that, sadly, life just isn't perfect and sometimes you get put to a tiny, minute amount of inconvenience because of the human mistakes of others.
What would you have done in the old days pre-internet? You'd have had to go around the shops.Faster than a tent.......0 -
I'm still waiting for the pump that was supposedly 'in stock' over a week ago.0

Sorry to wade in, but I think you are being a bit hard on LAW4778.
Shouldn't really gang up on people, and shouldn't really criticise peoples grammar or punctuation on a friendly forum imho. Unless you, yourself, are grammaticaly perfect (and pretty arrogant too).
Hopefully I've not opened myself up to personal attacks and haranguing now
Yes, it is a minor problem, but it is annoying when you have to put yourself out because a company, who's service you are paying for, messes up an order. Due to work I find it extremely difficult to get to a post office if I have to return things.
When I tried to order my spd shoes and 3/4 baggies from Tredz the system said they were instock. Got an email the next day saying neither were in stock, and I would have to wait over a week for them to come in, then wait for them to be delivered to me.
Just rang them up to cancel the order, no problem. Chap then said they would refund me my money. Thought that was a bit strange, as most places Ive dealt with only take payment when the items are despatched.
Ordered my stuff else where, items were delivered 2 days later.
Personally, I probably won't use Tredz again. No grudge or anything, but there are loads more reliable shops to buy things from.
I presume more shops are cutting back on their stock levels due to the current economic problems, but if you aint got it in stock, don't say it is!Why has my sig been removed by the admins???0 -
+1 to the above (Si78).
I too was going to buy a bike from Tredz which was apparently in stock. Phoned up to see how long delivery would take and it turns out it isn't in stock at all. They promised to phone me this morning to let me know when the soonest delivery could be but as of yet, no phone call.LAW4778 wrote:while i am at it i might as well drive down to wales and hand deliver it to them
Not a bad idea. Then you could track down the individual that packed the stuff and cut his arms off so he can't do it to anyone else (Only joking, please don't do this as I'd feel quite bad).
Seriously though, the DSR states that you can make the wrong items "available for collection" and don't need to return them under your own steam. This way you can avoid a trip to the post office. From memory I believe they have to refund "as soon as possible" with 30 days being the absolute maximum. The 30 days starts as soon as you instruct them to collect, not when they actually do collect.0 -
I think some of you are being a bit harsh on LAW4778. I know it is understandable for companies to make mistakes but if we are happy to accept poor service, the companies will have no incentive to improve their service to us the consumers.
In this case it seems that this is not just a one off mistake - three different people have now complained about the same company displaying items as 'In Stock' when they are not. Perhaps there is a serious error with their stock system or maybe there is something more cynical going on?
Regular readers of the forums will know of a couple of companies that have reputations for awful customer service and keep cropping up again and again.
Without the likes of LAW4778 highlighting these issues, we would be none the wiser.

Interesting thread apart from the bitching.
I ordered a Topeak beam rack of them it on the 16th.
If I suddenly get an email advising the item is not in stock I will be referring them to this thread. I'll keep you all informed.
P.S. Delivery from Tredz can take from 2 - 7 days. Its clearly stated on the E - mail confirmation.0 -

One thing to highlight a one off incident (which, from the perspective of the OP this was) -another to have a major throwing of the toys out of the pram for some trivial inconvenience. Nobody is suggesting it is OK to accept poor service - it seems that Tredz are trying to sort things out in a sensible way; I can't think of anything at all unreasonable about the supplier requesting an item to be returned at its own expense. Consideration works both ways.Faster than a tent.......0 -

Just to let you all know. Its happened. I have just received an E - mail from Tredz advising that.......We are sorry to say that there has been a small delay with your order.
We are expecting your order from our suppliers imminently and hope to despatch to you ASAP.
Apologies again.
