Isaac frames - Would you buy one ?

Hi all.

Given the recent issues with Isaac recalling frames/forks and the voluntary liquidation of the company would anyone buy one at the moment ?

I'm being tempted by an amazing offer for an 07 Impulse to replace my 04 TCR carbon (size small if anyone wants it, matt black with minimal white graphics)

Reading between the lines it looks as though Isaacs are pretty sound and it's preventative measures only re the fork issues. A few have had creaky frames as an issue but on the whole people like them or am I just seeing what I want to see and being blinded by the lure of a new bike (again) ?

Thoughts please, particularly from owners, happy ones and not so happy ones.

Thanks

I know the guy dave who is selling them off. Heard lots about the bikes, many of our club has them- they all love them. The fork steerer problem exists in all makes but only isaac recalled them. Its to do with us clumsy halfwitts messing with formula 1 technology without even a torque wrench! At the prices they are going i dont think you can go wrong.

i have an 08 impulse - fantastic frame and fork. forget about the recall issues - as brownbosh says, overcautious approach due to ham-fisted home mechanics - there's no quality issue at all. not sure if david palk is still there but you could always talk to him about it - very helpful guy...
my bike had a few creaks - you can always work out eventually where from, and it was never a major issue with frame, bb or fork, always some interface that needed cleaning/greasing. you have to be careful about people moaning that isaacs creak - you read some of their other posts and realise they haven't really taken trouble to investigate and solve the issue, which is probably nothing to do with the frame and everything to do with poor maintenance or lack of investigation. this is the case with all bikes anyway.
go for it - they're great bikes

  • Carbon/black and silver every time for me.

If you don't mind me asking, where are you getting them from and for how much?

Bidding starts at £349 on Ebay.
If you call David he'll tell you what stock he has and how much for cash on items yet to be listed.

    Got it !
Chorus except for Centaur mechs, Easton Ascent II wheels, Deda Newton bar and Stem, Time RXS Carbon pedals.
16lbs inc pedals ! ( got some travel luggage scales that you hook things up to, but it feels light whether they are very accurate or not)

First impressions - Isaac reputation for being uncomfy is unjustified. I have exactly the same spec as I had with my TCR carbon, a former C+ bike of the year, and it feels less harsh. Longer head tube is a great feature, it's a race bike, looks like a race bike but has a great riding position. Did 20 miles to work this morning and went the long way home and did 30miles. Hopefully get out for 60+miles this weekend in one go and then see how I feel but really don't expect any issues. Usually rough roads were noticeabley smoother. After riding this I now see why not all carbon bikes are the same.
Hope Isaac can sort out their problems because this is a quality bike.

Now if I can just remeber how to post a picture on here....
