Help! I'm a cycling widow

Thankfully with the Commander being cyclist himself I don't have too much of a worry although his cleaning obsession is something which needs to be dealt with.
Mind you as if three weeks time he will find himself a football widower as the new season starts for me as a referee an he hates the games (strictly a rugby and cricket man) so he will find out what it's like to be on the other side.
He has said however that he's not racing this year but that is out if paranoia on his part as that was the point that his ex wife chose to screw around with his now ex best friend...well on race days and during deployments! So instead he is taking up the role of manager for the team with me as first aider. I really won't have any weekends off for at least nine months now!Officers don't run, it's undignified and panics the men0 -
My girlfriend used to moan religously about my cycling. She still isn't happy about my return journey's from the Morpeth, but that I can understand....
To her credit she has asked to join me on a jaunt around Richmond Park.... and has already shown signs of wanting to go faster than me
The force is growing in her!
Edit: Weirdly I wound't want her to commute, I'd worry about her safety.... :oops:Food Chain number = 4
A true scalp is not only overtaking someone but leaving them stopped at a set of lights. As you, who have clearly beaten the lights, pummels nothing but the open air ahead. ~ 'DondaddyD'. Player of the Unspoken Game0 -
DDD, you're a sweetie0

Oi!
Why all the recent baiting attempts!?!
Because you're such an easy target.0 -

When I got together with my GF I made it very clear that cycling was very important to me. Being a reasonable soul that values her "me" time as much as I do, she's not objected once and has even started commuting by bike. As long as you get the balance right I don't see why it should be an issue, and let's face it, cycling is good for you and I'd rather my partner was in good nick than a lardy fcker who spends too much time slobbing round the house. I accept that if/when I have kids I'll prob get less time on the bike, but there's always a compromise to be found.

I bet he'd struggle to!
My gf has just said she's going to have a go at cycling to work! With another friend/colleague who's considerably less fit than her - I think she reckons that this way she might not actually build up too much of a sweat! She's also picked up on the fun in going quickly - so far all the rides we've done together have been at pootling speed but she went out with a friend the other day and was, by all accounts, nipping all over the place.
Of course, what that means is that I will now start worrying about *her* cycling on busy London roads. Sigh.0 -
Of course not. She'd know how much he spends on bike things then. He'd be ruined0

Hah - she knows I post a lot on a bike forum, and meet people off it, but I don't think she knows or cares where. A quick hunt through her browser history and it'd be straightforward to find.
And she knows full well how much I spend on bike stuff! Luckily she's a bit of a spendthrift herself so we balance each other out quite well. That is, of course, until we want to have kids/buy a house or anything else that takes scrimping, saving and a prudent financial outlook :shock:0 -
I bet you tell her 'pink was all that was left' too eh?0

Great story that one Here's my story after nagging my wife to try cycling I eventually got her to come on a gentle mountain bike ride. We did'nt even leave the carpark. After 10mins she fell off the bike and sprained her wrist. I felt so bad about this and thinking "I can forget about asking her again". Anyway we went to a NHS walk-in centre and got treatment by a nurse practioner who turned out to be a keen mountainbiker and she encouraged my wife not to give up!. We spent the next 30mins sharing trail stories!

Maybe you should let her catch you posing in front of the mirror in her underwear. That'll teach her...... and no idea ...
