So a blue transit van (carrying cheese I think) damn near punts me into the kerb this morning. I manage to let out a "whooooaaaaa!!!" which he heard and swerved away at the last minute. So the red mist descends and I chase after him determined to tell him (using as many four letter words as I know) what I thought of him.
As I came alongside he already had his window open and had slowed down for me. Before I could start my rant he apologised! "Sorry mate, I wasn't paying attention and I didn't see you until you shouted. Christ I could have killed you, I am so sorry. Hope you're okay"
I thanked him and left it at that. We're human after all and people make mistakes, hopefully he'll be more aware of cyclists in the future.

Makes you wonder what difference a simple sincere apology makes! It diffuses the situation immediately and makes everyone feel like decent human beings again.
On the other hand, putting me in danger and then being arrogant about it triggers the blue mist of death (yes, I work in IT )Computer geek, Manchester Wheelers' member since 20060
