Cannondale.Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos0

I had this similar dilemma Focus or a Cannondale.
After a test ride plumped for the Focus as there was no real notable difference between the two and I saved £1500!
Test ride both.0 -
So Cannodale Carbon 6 - http://www.bikeradar.com/road/gear/cate ... 9-us-34741 or Ribble Nero Corsa - http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/ ... a-08-28023? Which is exactly the same frame as the Kona Zing De Lux which got a mention here - http://www.bikeradar.com/commuting/news ... ders-20989.
I've said this before on a couple of forums but I think the the Ribble Nero Corsa is a great bike - great value and performance. I am biased of course as I ended up buying one. Focus, Planet X and Boardman all have a strong following & offer good carbon frames at this price point too. I think that Cannondale make some excellent bikes but I wouldn't go for this particular one.
In short, Ribble.'Happiness serves hardly any other purpose than to make unhappiness possible' Marcel Proust.0 -
How much premium or cache are you prepared to fork out for the name on the downtube? Both frames are probably built in near-identical facilities in Taiwan / China.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

The Cannondale is much better
That you would even consider the Nero Corsa is astounding0 -
I forgot to say, the hyper links in my previous post (see below) were for reviews on this website. The Cannondale review said to consider other bikes in the Cannondale stable (the alu is lighter) but I guess it depends what you are after.passout wrote:So Cannodale Carbon 6 - http://www.bikeradar.com/road/gear/cate ... 9-us-34741 or Ribble Nero Corsa - http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/ ... a-08-28023? I'm toying with the idea of selling my Look 555 frame (which I love and rate highly) and getting a CAAD9...0

I've seen a load of data produced by Giant that show the Cannondale to be pretty rubbish in stiffness and comfort compared to other top end bikes. It is obviously biased to Giant, but there were several brands tested by them and Cannondale were the worst...Personally I'm not really much of a fan of the brand anyway. The CAAD frames are good, but if you look at the ways in which Cannondale advertise (Men's lifestyle mags etc) you get a reasonable idea of their company focus...
Completely personal opinion though and I'm sure that in reality I'd be just as bad on a Cannondale as any other frame!Racing for Fluid Fin Race Team in 2012 - www.fluidfin.co.uk0 -
Yeah, the liquigas team really seem to struggle.0

Ok so i guess neither is going to tick all boxes  another option i have is to get a bike built to my spec. I have to do this via wheelies .co.uk as thats who the insurance select so i figured sticking with ultegra as i'm used to it on some ksyrium elite wheels should tot up tp about £800 gives me about another £800 for a frame & forks if you have any surggestions. Or should i just opt for a purpose built bike???0

Insurance companies normally say that you have to use their recommended retailer as they get a rebate. You should be able to agree a cash settlement with them that will let you shop anywhere.Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos0

I know it sucks £1800 if i buy from them £1500 if i take the cash thats why i was looking into the Ribble. There website is fairly restricting but they said they'd try to source any bike i fancied or they'd build one up for me.
So many options but whats out there for that kind of cash :x0 -
Find an extra £100 of your own and you could upgrade to the new Dura-Ace here;

Such a good deal I'm on the verge of being tempted away from Centaur or Rival for my own build.0 -
Hmm....off the peg bikes are still much better value for money. Ribble, Planet X and Focus all do alu bikes with decent specs if that's the way you want to go. I think that you need to visit a few shops and see a selection in the flesh.
Incog 24 - have you got a link for that research by Giant?'Happiness serves hardly any other purpose than to make unhappiness possible' Marcel Proust.0 -
Never ridden a planet x will try to test ride one. test rode the cannondale carbon six thought that was ok but only 105 kit. Trek madone was horrid. Being swayed by shops to opt for a carbon frame as you can upgrade kit as time goes by but having been used to ultegra don't really wish to down grade had open pro wheels as well and the askirum feel a lot heavier.Any thoughts on the Scott CR1???? Or any frame comments been pointed in the direction of the Kinesis racelight 510.0

If you are interested in the Knesis check out Merlin Cycles. They will custom build bikes cheaply and are good to deal with. They've just started doing road bikes:

Caught a bit between 2 places like the idea of building a bike up to my own spec. Got this money burning a hole in my pocket seems mad to throw £300 away and grab the cash although the planet x looks a great buy. Your help has both made things clearer and clouder :roll:0

No I'm afraid I don't. They have a presentation on their Advanced SL which features loads of ternary diagrams of comfort - stiffness - something else, but I don't think its online.Racing for Fluid Fin Race Team in 2012 - www.fluidfin.co.uk0
