Seized up Front Suspension

I was on a 2 hour ride last weekend and as I came to the end of the ride (10mins from the end) my front suspension forks seized up. It was my first ride for a couple of weeks.

Any advice on what could have caused it and how I should go about fixing it? I'm fairly pants at bike maintenance but very keen to learn more.

The forks are XCR 100mm travel SR Suntour that came with my Carrera Kraken '07.

The weather was pretty bad, heavy rain, windy etc.

Being a maintenance noob, is that something I could/should try myself or take it to the local shop?

    Thanks for the help.

Fairly simple fork to pull apart, clean and grease.

    Suntour website has diagrams.

Those Suntour Forks may look OK but as you have found they are not really up to more than going up and down kerbs. For a good budget fork that actually works off road you can't go far wrong with these http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk/rockshox ... 47662.html
