*looks around sheepishly*
Hello ladies, I'm looking for some sunglasses for mrs.blitz. She has a petite face and most man-size sunnies look like goggles when she tries them on. Any recommendations would be welcome.

Thanks in advance .b

I’ve got the dhb Triple Lens glasses. I don’t have a particularly small head or narrow face, but they’re definitely quite a bit narrower than my husband’s glasses.

Ah thanks for that. I looked at the dhb ladies but I wasn't sure if they were ladies-specific or just 'girly' versions of the men's IYKWIM

I love a lot of the Oakley glasses, but I’m far too tight-fisted to spend that kind of money on something that I could easily break if I had a bad off!

Admittedly, if I’d landed on my face with enough force to smash the glasses I’m sure they’d be the least of my worries…

trust me mrs toast.. all it takes is on good rock to put a wicked scratch in um anyways..
  • mine were cheapy ones with interchangeable lenses (clear, black and orange).

they're scratched to buggery and the orangey lenses are currently covered in dust, mud and dead flying things... no way would i spend loads of money on them!

wish i could remember the make.... don't think they're small for women, but I don't have a huge head, i don't think!

And would doubtless be covered under your house's accidental damage insurance policy, which, of course, you have.

    Right?

Got house insurance, not quite sure what it covers. Coincidentally it's up for renewal, so we're looking to change, possibly to Marks and Spencers. We pay an additional premium on our current insurance for the bikes, but they're only insured up to a maximum of £1500, a limit we can't raise.

Don't know if the policy would cover sliding along my face...
  • we're with Direct Line - they charged an additional premium for our bikes which was at a reasonable level, but i don't remember them saying there was a limit....

(i don't work for them - we just have all our insurances with them - they were great when the OH had an accident in the car a few years ago....)

Is that £1500 total, or £1500 per bike?

  • Hiya,

I've got Sunwise "Wave" glasses which i think are more for running but are floaty light and really comfortable. They've got interchangeable lenses and were only about £25 from the Sweatshop in Reading - you can order them online though and get additional coloured lenses. There are loads and loads of different models too.

I agree that there's a chance i could break them so i'm not prepared to spend silly money on them...

The tifosi glasses are fairly nice, cheap and they do a lot of different frames...

We're with zurich (was eagle star) and you can insure them up to £3k I think? Not sure.

If you had cover for outside the home, your glasses would be covered, as would your helment, though, alas, your face would not

Oakley are notoriously fantastic with warranty issues. If ANYTHING happens to the frames you can send them back to Oakley and they will fix or replace the frames. My boyfriend sat on his sunnies which were a couple of years old and twisted the frames, they fixed them for free. They fixed them a total of about 3 times of 6 years.

The foam on his oakley goggles was disintegrating as they were really old, they replaced the frame (and for the colour he was after) for £10, which was only charged as he had to buy a warranty extension as they were that old.

The only thing that they don't fix is the lenses unless there's a manufacturing fault, but never managed to put a mark on either my sunglasses or goggles (and i'm really not that careful with them, i wipe ice off my goggles with my gloves and there's still not a mark on them)

Yeah they are expensive, (Steptoes is the cheapest place for them being 10-20% cheaper than RRP) but unless you loose them you're unlikely to need another pair for a looooooong time
