Thinking of getting a pair of Shimano RO86 shoes, cant however find a review anywhere (apart from one I read in a magazine a couple of months ago that said they were good value) and wondered if anyone else has a pair, can recommend them or would suggest any other shoes around the £80 mark?
Cheers in advance for any assistance :D

You can get R132s which are much blingier (full carbon sole) for about £90 and the RO86 can be had for less than £80. Check ebay among other places for these kind of prices.

How about last year's Sidi Genius 5.1s for £90? Also on ebay...

I was going to get the R132s but found that Shimano sizing doesn't really work for me. I've just ordered Sidi Genius 5 Pros which have the newer Millenium 3 sole but the 5.1 is arguably a better deal. Whatever you go for, make sure you know it'll fit - there's a surprising amount of variation in sizing and shapes of road shoes.

    Sonny73:
I brought a pair of these about two weeks ago. I've worn them about 5 or 6 times and they appear to be quite good. The buckle strap works nicely, giving a comfy, but tight fit and they appear to be quite well put together, with a nice heel.
I went and tried them on in a LBS and got a size smaller than what I thought so be careful if you order off the net. I did try another couple of pairs but for the money they seemed to be the best ones I could get for under £100.
As you say they were in C+ the other month and got 9 out of 10 so they can't be bad, and I think they look blingy in white! TBH I don't think you can go wrong but am sure you can get something else right on the mark for £80 to £100. Having got a pair of budget road shoes before I can safely say the buckle fitting makes alot of difference to three velcro straps.

    Happy hunting.

    Hiya,

I bought a pair of these a couple of months ago and really like them. A buddy has them too and is also pleased with them. They'll be a little cool in the winter but you can always where overshoes.

These particular shoes come up a bit small though so if you're a 42, go for a 43 etc etc.

I've had these for a couple of months and I like them very much.
    Nice and comfy to wear.
I also have last years RO85's to which are very similar and feel just the same.
I only bought the RO86 because the pearl white matches my bike

I bought a pair of R086's a month ago and I think they are brill.

They give you loads of power on the upstroke and don't budge an inch. Word of advice tho, if like me you have wide feet you may need to go up a size. I'm a 44 but I had to have these as a 45 and they fit perfectly.

There was a very good review on these in Cycling Plus edition 222 May 2009 and in it they said, and I quote, 'If Darth Vader had a pro team, then you could be sure his domestiques would wear this shoe'.

I've got a pair and think they're great. I also got a larger size than usual as I have wide feet.

    @Sonny73

I got a pair a month ago and I love them. Compared to my previous shoes they're really comfortable and as someone said above having the "clicker" to tighten instead of a third strap really does ensure they fit snuggly. Walking in the them is much more comfortable as well - they have a rubberised heal (not bare plastic, clip clop clip clop) and even with look keo cleats you don't feel like you're walking only on your heals.

Of course by far the most important thing is that they're white, blingy, and make you look more professional than you actually are :P
