Seeing as a lot of 2009 bikes seemed to be downspecced compared to comparable 2008 models, does anybody have any info on whether or not this is likely to continue next year? I've heard Fox fork prices are on the rise...

The downspeccing happens pretty much every year, especially with the mainstream manufacturers. Unbranded hubs and Fox forks, unknown headset and XT rear mech, light tyres and heavy wheels it's a minefield.

I think it will, I have just ordered a new bike for this reason, there was a thread about a a 2010 giant that suggested this was the case.

That's interesting because it's a Giant I'm interested in. Either I buy now because it's pretty much the last one anywhere, or I wait for 2010

Talking to bloke from my LBS. The Cube that i got last September for £529 went up to £600 at the back end of last year (09 spec). Apparently prices will rise again and the 'Acid' will be £680, with very lttle spec change!

Madness, its no wonder people are jumping on the cycle to work band wagon. Only way to get a decent bike with have a take out a 2nd mortgage

Yeah mine has gone up £150 since I bought it. Coupled with nearly £100 discount I got I'd hope to get a lot of my money back for the Cube if I sold it now and went full sus.
