What bike manufacturer's frame is used furthest across their range. What I would like to know is who has the best frame lowest down in their product line pecking order - is it Giant?

not many as they have lots of diferent frames.

the giant glory is common to most of them but different linkages for the travel etc.

what type of frame are you on about.

even on XC bikes the frames can look tthe same but materials/wall thickness change.

what are you really wanting and wanting to do?

This is out of your budget for for interest the Cannondale Carbon Taurine hardtail frame is a carbon frame used on the £1500 entry level taurine bike and is exactly the same frame used on the £4500 taurine team bike.

Gary Fisher uses the same frame starting with the £275 Tarpon up to the £725 Tassajara.
  • I had a look at this when I was buying my mountain (the australian mountain bike buyers guide has this info), since my reasoning back then was if a frame is good enough it will be used for the higher models as well plus upgrades in other parts hence making it a good upgrade platform. Gary Fischer does indeed reuse their frame the most from what I've seen, followed by trek. In the end I settled for a Cannondale.

It's a tad out of your price range by about £100, but the Scott Scale aluminium frame starts on a bike around the £580 mark, and is seen on models right up to £1,200, and after that it becomes the carbon frame (but it's the same geometry). I've heard very good things about this bike.
