Not really just picked up my new Rockhopper Expert and i love it, i really have got a satisfied feeling not like i had when i recieved the Focus Black Forest, but i am gutted that i was outside setting up the SPD pedals with the new shoes i got with it and the tension was too much and i went crashing down scuffing my new pedal and putting a nick in one of my grips and not as important but cutting my elbow at the same time , anyway readjusted them and initailly i think the shoes and pedals feel great for the short spin i went on but time will tell when i go for a decent ride tomorrow, cheers all.

Scuffed pedals you say?
A nick in your grips you say?
P.S. You are doing it right.0 -
When I got my first clip in pedals on my road bike I rode ten miles repeating
'clip out' 'clip out'...
at every light stop and break.
When I turned into my road, I noted that the plumber I had booked to sort a leak had left and natrually, I lost my train of thought. Yep, straight over. BANG!
It is worth it as the gains you get in kenetic energy staying in the pedal are massive. I am now thinking about upgrade pedals for my Zesty, but dab a bit so not quite sure yet so kudos to you....

I'm still slightly annoyed that all the marks on my bike came from bouncing around in the back of a car, not from being honourably crashed. But I suppose it saves me the hassle!Uncompromising extremist0

Bar ends help the grips live a little longer.
As for scuffs through transportation, well my Land Rover Defender 90 is just to small to fit a bike in the back with ease, even with the front wheel removed. It has bench seats in the rear and a rollcage which chipped chunks of paint from my brand new Kona frame. I was livid. One day the forks (minus front wheel) got hooked over the tub and I destroyed the front brake hose getting it unstuck.
When I bought my second bike I decided to buy an LR Discovery and use Thule aero bars and 591 roof mounts, a much better solution
I don't mind trail scuffs though, those are like battle scars, each one has a little story to tell.
SPD pedals are something I don't use, but my Kona Jacksh!t and DMR V8 pedals are well scuffed as are the bar ends. My grips are worn right down on the All Mountain bike - as in no grip left on them - time to replace..0 -

I have actually bought a set of ODI grips which should be a lot more resilient to my sliding along the ground habit. Just need to get around to actually putting them on.
As for frame chipping, I've been lucky so far but I am planning on my next frame being unpainted.0
