Wyre Forest Ladies Ride

edited August 2009 in MTB rides
I am organising a beginners ladies ride in the Wyre Forest. The purpose is to encourage the ladies to ride off road. It will be an 8 to 10 mile route, on fireroads and wide tracks, with lots of girlie banter and laughs.

There is a regular group that meets on Sunday's at the same place. So if the guys bring their partners, the guys can go off separately and we can all meet up for a drink in the pub afterwards. (parking is free, but the landlord does appreciate a visit from mountainbikers after the ride).

Meeting at The Duke William Pub (just past the Visitors Centre) at 10am, Sunday 12th July.

Let me know if you're interested to join in on the fun.

Would love to join you, as looking to find some ladies to ride with, but can't make the 12th, can you let me know when you are planning another one please?

D'oh, would like to go (I've been meaning to check out the Wyre forest for a while), but I'll be on holiday. Like Emzz, let me know if you're planning another!

    Hi Emzz and Mrs Toast

I'm local to Wyre Forest so just give me shout on here if you would like a guide around. My diary is fairly full at the moment and the next Sunday I am free is 19th July, otherwise it would need to be 8th or 9th August.

Emzz - if you're local I could do an evening ride?

Hi Ladies - Just a little reminder about Sunday's ride - we are meeting at The Duke William Pub (just past the Visitors Centre on A456 from Kidderminster/Bewdley) at 10am, Sunday 12th July. All abilities are welcome.

Just came past the Duke William. There is a race marshallstanding on the road and signs up saying "Race Car Park". Not sure what is going on but parking could be difficult this morning.

Will try and park at Duke William. Alternatives are the Visitors Centre at £2 for the day or turn left just before the Visitors Centre (from the direction of Bewdley), signposted Lyehead and Crossbank. Turn off the main road and park on the left.

If we are all parking in different places, I suggest meeting at the Visitors Centre on the bikes ready to go about 10:15am.

Thank you for everyone who turned up - we had a great day and it was very enjoyable to meet some new riders. Sloshing in the mud, paddling through a river crossing and watching a pedal take a flying lesson - all in a days mountain biking

If anyone would like a pootle and a guide round just give me a shout on here. :)

Hi MP - I met you on Sunday in the Earnwood car park with my husband (our bike helmets have now arrived!). Might be interested in joining you on your ladies ride on Sunday, would be nice to go round with someone who knows the trails as usually get a bit lost! Will let you know anyway, as not sure what our plans are this weekend.

MrsMoo - that's great. It's a very gentle pootle. I ride round with the novices on fire roads and send the more experienced riders down some fun singletrack which have some technical bits thrown in for fun. I'm trying to encourage any learner ladies out there, as I know how hard it was to find someone to ride with when I was a beginner. Guys are welcome too. Last time we were out for about 3 hrs and everyone enjoyed themselves. If you're not able to make it, as I said on Sunday, I'm local so just give me a shout on here if you would like a tour of the trials. Hope to see you there Sunday.
