Mountain bikers in Sussex are being asked to look out for a pair of unique bikes stolen from a Whyte cycle engineer’s garage in Eastbourne.

Kevin Izzard – well known product manager with ATB Sales LTd - is counting the cost of the raid on his home which saw the bikes – which are worth thousands of pounds – go missing.

While he was at work last Thursday, the thieves managed to get into the electronically locked space and removed the two high end Whyte mountain bikes that superfit Kevin had adapted for his own use.

One bike –a Whyte 19 – was an urban special that Kevin built himself and the other, a Whyte E5 Race is one of only 20 bikes in the world like it and the only one with a set of exclusive DT Swiss Wheels.

Kevin said: “The mountain bike community knows its bikes and the moment someone sees these two being ridden they will be spotted and reported. Anyone who sees them can contact me at work or go to the police.

“I am gutted to lose them both and it is the first time in 20 years that I have not actually owned or been on a mountain bikes.

Kevin has ridden in countless events like D2D and Mountain Mayhem and last year managed the gruelling Alp D’Huez cycle climb through the Alps. He is a keen tri-athlete and is well known in the industry as one of the good guys.
