Which lightweight 100mm Forks?

After a few years off the bike, I've recently started riding my 05 Giant Trance regularly and am looking to finally replace the standard front fork. With so many options available I really don't know where to start.
The bike is heavy in standard spec, so being light weight is one of the criteria. I mainly ride XC with high speed tree roots being the biggest hit they should take.
Price range: £300-£350 ish
Travel: 100mm
Love the way the bike climbs so would like any changes to compliment this.
Any guidance or recommendations gratefully received

It might be worth having a look at these as well

merlin were having a sale on RS SIDs. World cups were 500 so out of your range, can't remember about the cheaper models. New SIDs get a very good write up, they seem much stiffer then old ones (larger dia stanchions) and really seem to be comnig of age.

I'd be looking at that Reba.0

supersonic,
not challenging but curious; for similar money (the reba race being 270, the sid race being 290) why would you chose the reba?Everything in moderation ... except beer

The SID is lighter, but is more geared towards the racy XC side of things. The Reba is a little stiffer, a little tougher and for a few extra grams and a bike like the trance (which isn't an xc race bike) would be the one I'd get.0

fair enough. I hadn't actually looked at teh bike he was plannign to put them on tbh  just saw "lightweight 100mm forks" and immediately thought '09 SIDS

Thanks for quick replies. they centainly helped. With the Reba and the SID being the same price at Merlin I'm still to make the decission, but leaning towards the Reba for the reasons mentioned.
Thanks againScott Spark 20

I mistyped earlier, the Reba forks are actually £269 opposed to the £296 of the SIDs!!0

Rebas are good and won't disappoint. Spend the 30 quid saved on Mrs Winchester!0

or the other Mr Winchester if that is your sort of thing0

Pedalon have SID Teams on offer for 399.00. I've just fitted a pair to my mates Mongoose Canaan as a replacement for his Recon Races.
I have not yet had a chance to compare them to my own Reba Teams but I wouldn't mind betting that apart from the lighter crown they're are internally identical.
One thing to note with the 09 SID is that they have extended the fork lowers so that they cover the negative air and the rebound adjuster. This makes it practically impossible to damage either the rebound or negative air valve.
We'll be heading down to North Wales in the next week or two so I'm going to try and do a side by side comparison!
SID Teams V's Reba Teams. Mmmm...........interesting.0 -
manitou minutes are apparently very light, you can get them on CRC for a good price at the moment, http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=33449 whowever they are bolt through, you may need a new hub0
