Tandem for Self and Young Daughter ?

My daughter (aged 7) has used a Tag Along bike behind my mountain bike for a few years now and has really enjoyed it.
She is getting too big for the tag along and has her own bike but we are limited as to how far we can go by her limited range and the fact we can only use cycle paths and very quiet roads as her road sense isn't very good yet. I was wondering if a tandem would be a useful next step for longer rides?
I've seen 2 low cost tandems on various websites that I think will cover my size (6'3") and my daughter (a very tall 7 year old) which are a VIKING SARATOGA and a BARRACUDA CALIFORNIA. They are £350 to £400 so I'm aware that they are low cost from low cost brands but the bike will have limited use and I'm happy enough replacing parts with ebay purchases as things need changing (as long as the frame is OK).
Can anyone give me any feedback or advice regarding these 2 tandems?
Regards,
Gavin.

Like a streak of lightnin' flashin' cross the sky,
Like the swiftest arrow whizzin' from a bow,
Like a mighty cannonball he seems to fly.
You'll hear about him ever'where you go.
