Tyre sizes and choice

Hi guys I own a Specialised Sirrus and the current tyres are wearing out so will need replacing soon. The sizing on them says 700x28c but there isn't a lot of tyres on the market that size when I've looked around, so am I able to fit say 700x23 instead?
Also any tyre recommendations for about £60 altogether would be much appreciated!

Many Thanks,

Here's a quick one for you:

    700x23 is better speed-wise, I can't say it's any harsher than a 25 I used to use, though I wouldn't know about a 28.

For £60 - Try some Ultremo's. They're tougher than Pro Race 3's, which got a few dodgy reviews a white back for their durability.

However, steer clear of the Ultremo R's until the bulging sidewall issue clear itself up.

depends what kind of riding you do as to what is best.

Conti GP4 Seasons can be bought in 28mm and are good tyres.

If you want faster then 25 or 23 are the way to go. Obvious candidtaes are GP4000S, ProRace3, Ultremos, Mich Krylion et al

Well mainly commuting but I'd choose speed over comfort any day. Thanks for the suggestions I'll have a look at them.

and CRC have the Michelin Krylion in 23 and 25mm

all good tyres, just a case of balancing the toughness with the speed. 25mm Krylions or GP4Seasons would be my recommendation I think.

    CRC have the Krylions

I've just been using the Pro3s and the Schwalbe Ultremo Rs back to back and I prefer the Michelins I think. They wear quickly though, as you would perhaps expect a race tyre to do, so I'm curently on a Krylion on the rear and a Pro3 on the front.
