I'll sum it up first:

"CYCLISTS ARE F****G NUTTERS AND CYCLING IS TOO DANGEROUS!"

http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/ ... article.do

Is it me or does Boris sound like a right numpty cyclist?

I am a cyclist only in the strictly limited sense that I happen to own a bicycle, a clunking Raleigh which I very occasionally pedal around Regent's Park.

as far as i know you are not allowed to cycle in Regents Park - naughty man

Since becoming Mayor, Boris has developed an acute interest in a field to which previously he had seemed indifferent.

That'll be anything to do with local politics in London then.

Really crap article - typical standard b*ll*cks

While I realise this doesn't really add much, S. Robinson is an idiot.

Let's give him the benefit of the doubt and assume it is round the Outer Circle. It is an awful article though.

i have to ask - does this hack deserve our benefit of the doubt?
I don't just give it out to anyone you know.

Riding a bike allowed on the main path that runs down through the park. Speed limit is something stupid, like 5mph. Seems wrong to refer to that as cycling.

He's still better than Ken in my book, at least he's started to trim some of the flab @ city hall.

I've now actually bothered to read the article and it does sound balanced! Boris sounds like an archetypal London rider; Isabel and, perhaps, the author sound like rather more circumspect cyclists. It doesn't damn or make snide remarks about riders.

+1 I think the authors view of Boris as a cyclist is reflective of how many non cyclists see us in London.

I just read this article. It does cast doubts on the sanity of Boris but doesnt seem like it's having a particular go at cyclists in general.

Misleading title to this thread as it's not really an article about cycling/cyclists. I was expecting an anti-cycling tirade typical of say that usually found in the Daily Mail or Jeremy Clarkson. As a non-Londoner interesting to see how the "new" Standard is going under its new editor after its re-launch promise of serving the capital better.
