Weeell, technically that bic one is also team kit, albeit for a defunct team.
Still want me a La Vie Claire top: http://www.prendas.co.uk/details.asp?ty ... =2&ID=2239

You've got a superbike and you're worried about wearing team kit to go with it?????

Go for it! Anyone who does manage to overtake you will just think you're on a recovery ride.

I have a (very stupid) aversion to wearing obvious team kit, and not just on a bike. It's daft - I can't really offer a good explanation for it!

Probably something to do with the fact that they all look like mobile (but very skinny) billboards.

Nope, that's not it... more about the statement you're making by wearing team kit... I did say it was stupid.

what puts me off a lot of cycletops is i don't follow it as sport so i have no idea as to what the names mean so...

My wife got me the Etxeondo Euskaltel kit (2008!) and its lovely - that BIC top is amazing too, Ocana was one of my grandad's favourite cyclists (being himself a cyclists when he was a kid).

I think to get that top you need to understand its past though :)

Much better than all that Rapha and Assos stuff if you ask me!

It's a very valid aversion, unless it's done in a retro sort of way (as with the Bic jersey). What gets my goat is those that wear World Championship Bands or Tour Leader jerseys when they haven't earnt the right to.

Yeah, it's probably about 50% that, but it's also the statement that you have an allegiance to that team, and as someone who rarely watches sports and has no real interest in any team in any sport other than international ones, I don't like that. Again, disclaimer, I did say it was stupid! :D

I must admit I haven't worn my Gerolsteiner jersey since the Schumacher & Kohl unpleasantness. I do have a vintage Ariostea top which I like though

I can see what you mean about current kits being too billboardy, but some of the retro ones look like you've been watching bike racing for years, as opposed to the bike version of wearing a man united top (discovery!)

I've bought my dad a Peugeot top cos it's the one Tommy Simpson wore

The jersey in my avatar would suit my bike, but I won't buy one for a few reasons:

    a) Paying a hefty premium for the right to advertise. They should be paying me!
    b) Same reasons as LiT outlined above. Perfectly understandable.
    c) I'd look like a nob, especially at the speeds I do. I look like a nob on my bike anyway but I see no reason to double up.

I actually have one of these:

    HN+Z+preview.jpg

Although mine is a long-sleaved jacket. It's original, my dad gave it to me. Highly offensive on the eye. It's brighter, more pink and more yellow than this pic suggests.
    ... and no idea ...

I actually did check them out, and if it wasn't for that swirly heart design I would totally have got them :) I have delicate small hands in any case so the "designed for ladies" thing isn't a worry :)

I'd be a bit careful about wearing Bic kit.....they also make disposable razors.......people may think you are part Brazilian..........

This kit argument is as silly as the expensive bikes thread. I like to wear the Euskaltel kit because I think looks good, feels comfortable and I like the team. Same goes for some of my other kit (Spain national’s, Mapei, etc!)
