I have changed from riding a flat barred bike toa bike with drops and after a good ride the other night my palms where killing me, on the ride i had to keep shifting my hand position.

Is this due to a badly set up bike, just not used to riding with drops or both??

Were you wearing gloves? The padded bits are great.

Something to check would be your saddle fore/aft position, as you might be "falling forward" and placing too much weight on your hands.

    Could be both.

When you are sitting on the bike you shouldnt have all your upper body weight bearing down on your arms. Check to see if you are overstretched. Your arms should have a degree of bend when in your riding position.

I have also just fitted Bontrager Isogel bar tape which has a silicone layer that goes round the bar prior to the tape going on. Havent ridden with it yet but it looks and feels good in the garage.
