Which platform pedals? Shimano MX30?

Hello,

I'm looking for some recommendations for platform pedals please.

Considering the Shimano MX30 which can be had for about £50 it seems...

Is there anything else out there that's better?

My criteria in no particular order is... weight, grip, looks, wouldn't mind something low profile, price isn't too much of an issue but don't want to spend silly money. Have to come in silver or black (preferably silver) and would also like them to be anodized rather than painted - But tough paint would do but wouldn't be my choice.

Thanks for your help.

  • Nice pedals especially the magnesium versions. Painted though. Are there any other options with a tougher finish?

You could try a pair of DMR V12's. I run a pair of black myself which suit me.

They also do a magnesium pair aswell.

I have some MX30's on one of my bikes, they are not light by any means (500g) but the shape is really nice & grippy.
I'd say a bit more grippy than my lighter MG1ti's but not a lot in it & the Mg1's are loads lighter (300g). I also like my friends Slim Jims, they are all nice pedals tbh.

I have CB 50/50sand, while I'm nervous about bearing life (CB don't have the best rep) they have held out well so far.

  • Cheers guys.

How much is a pair of MG1s with Ti axles going to cost me then? And where's the best place to get them from? Also are the silver versions powder coated:

Also seen these Superstars that are lighter for not much more cash:

    Opinions?

  • Now I've seen that the Superstars and Welgos are 3??grams it's going to be hard going for something that's quite a bit heavier.

Anyone know where I can get the MG1s with Ti axles?

    No one feeling the Superstars?

Im liking the superstars - does anyone have any experience of them?

Im also liking the Wellgo B25's, and a set of pedals is on my shortlist to replace the basic ones that came on my 6700

  • Unless I'm mistaken the Superstars seem to be the lightest sub £60 platform available. Add the ti axles and that takes them down to a stupid weight. Seems weird that no ones tried them. I'm really tempted but just a bit worried they've got some dark secret which is why everyone's steering clear? Are they just dressed up like pedals and when I get them home they'll turn out to be a man?

there is a good review of the Superstars on that page, and must admit im tempted, but most probably look no further than Wellgo/Shimano and I can get some MG1's off ebay for about £35
