ahhhh...you can't beat the new bike feeling.

Took ownership of a Whyte 905 last week and when not riding I find myself sneaking into the garage for a look at her sleek lines.

Get some pics up. I'm after a 6700 next. I've got a pic of one as my laptop screesaver which I keep drooling over  .

Conversation with my girlfriend the other day after she saw the pic:-

    Her: Thats not your bike.

Me: No its the one I want next.

Her (giving me a very dirty look): Its the same as the one you've got but a different colour. (I've currently got a black and white 6000)

Me: Its not, its loads lighter and its got much better bits on it.

Her: Well what about the one you've got, you've not had it long.

Me: I'll keep that just for going to work on.

Her (another dirty look): Oh really?!

    End of conversation

She just doesn't understand

    Wilfus...just apply the shoe logic.

Next time she's talking about or looking at shoes in a shop just tell her that they are the same as the ones on her feet...just a different colour.

If the lady follows form the above conversation should be repeated.

Then you let her have the shoes and she can't stop you getting the bike.

I've had almost the exact same conversation with my other half. Except I've had my current bike for many years, though she still doesn't understand.

I just bring up all the bags and shoes she buys...and then she goes silent and changes the topic

You should also use the excuse, "But the bike is good for my fitness, and you can't put a price on health." :)

If you do that, she might impose restrictions in other areas!

I took her for a ride earlier and got a few pics - I also discovered a few things.............

the bike is light and very fast - unfortunately im not

I need to get fit - Iv'e lost a stone recently but probably need to lose at least half a stone more

the bike feels right straight out of the box - Im not sure about the basic pedals though and I will upgrade to some better flatties sooner rather than later

the white saddle looks strange - nice n comfy though

Overall im very pleased with the bike and its good to be back in the saddle after nearly a year and a half away

Heres the pics - hope you like her!

Nice looking bike, Trek seem to have a knack for making their bikes look the business.

You'll probably need to change the grips when it starts getting wet too.

    Nice bike mate!
