going up to scotland this summer and i want to get some new tyres been thinking of the continetal mountain kings but with so many tyres its hard to make the choice, i used some maxxis ignighters last year up there which were fairly good but just wanted a tyre so i can push i bit more faster&harder this year.
anyone got any opinions or suggestions for me cheers :)

Surely it depends on if it will be muddy or dry?

You don't have a different tyre for every trail centre do you?!

Such a personal thing, in what way did the Maxxis let you down?

maxxis was fine at gt just was after something a bit more sure footed for the rollercoaster at inners really
    no just trailrakers for winter/mud
just the bontragers that came with my ex9 are pants and need to change them for scotland

Don't like mountain kings... Both places are pretty grippy, innerleithen has quite a few rocks and rockgardens, not to mention drops of dooooom, so you want something reasonably tough, and not too slow since the climb up at innerleithen is a bit of a bear- not that there's huge amounts of it but it's constant. But nothing out of the ordinary, just use whatever tyres you like.

I'd use it again then as you know its limits. Important part of any tyre.

Just don't use anything too racey and it'll be fine... Think I've always had 2.1 Blue Groove/Nevegals on for innerleithen, they struggled a tiny bit with the gravel on the descent from the summit but other'n that they were spot on. I didn't really feel a need for more front tyre, I don't hit the corners especially hard but I'd sooner have the 2.1 front on the way up, that's for sure.

Me, if it's been dry-ish the week before I'd use my small blocks, if it's been wet I'd use the blue groove/nevegals. All good solid tyres that I totally trust. But that's just me, there's millions of good tyres out there and everyone'll recommend whatever they like. Always reckon trust/familiarity is most important.
