Afternoon all

Thanks again to all those who completed the Bike Shed survey (http://bit.ly/BRBikeShedSurvey), much appreciated.

I wanted to let Londoners know that the Bike Shed is hosting a cyclists' breakfast for Bike Week next week on Thurs 18th June in Soho Square. Chat with other riders, find out more about our cycle buddy programme and talk to us about your needs for cycle parking & showers etc.

More info here: http://bikeshedbreakfast.eventbrite.com and if you fancy coming, do sign up so we can get a handle on how many to cater for (yes, there will be free food!).

Sounds lovely but starts a bit late for me. I'm supposed to be at my desk having showered and changed by 8.30am in Chancery Lane, although TBH I can drift in later at 8.45ish. This'll only work for me if I can get there, wolf down the breakfast and pretty much shoot off immediately!

Snap - I work on Chancery Lane too.

I should be able to do this, what with my insanely lax working hours and all...
  • We had a similar event at Norwich Library last year for Bike Week. Lots of free food & drink available, although didn't match my definition of a proper breakfast (*).

The police were there and were registering (name, address, make. model, photo + frame marking) cycles and giving out free sets of lights. Don't suppose Bike Shed could get them interested in doing something similar this time?

    * Proper breakfast always involves a frying pan and various foods of porcine origin.

Huh, I'm on Grays Inn Road too.

The breakfasty thing seems like a laugh, but I'm off that week and I'm not sure I can be fussed with getting up early in the morning just for a free breakfast after an hour's ride :)

I'll probably be down there about 9.30. Il Porky had better have left some for the rest of us.

Cor, I'll have done a 14 mile commute and an hour's work by 8.30am.

Would love to drop by but Soho Square's a bit deserted at 6.45.

    Hi all

Great that we'll be seeing a few of you there tomorrow morning. Do say hello (I'll be the blonde trying to talk to everyone), and make sure you mention you're from the forum as it'd be nice to put faces to names.

The police check/marking is a great idea! We're hoping to run these type of gatherings regularly so will definitely contact them about doing that for future events.

Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed for the weather!

How was the brekkie folks? I couldn't make it in the end 8:00 was too late for me really. Would've been v interested to talk to you BikeShed - as I said I looked into doing what you propose last year, but have shelved the idea for now!

I was down there at 9.30, just after the coffee had gone. Managed a very welcome cup of tea, even tho I don't usually drink it. Not many people around by then, but I gather it'd been busier earlier on.

I don't personally have any need for the shed thing, so didn't bother making much in the way of enquiries.

He he @prj45 perhaps we'll have to make the next one a bit earlier so you can join us.

lost_in_thought and Il Principe a shame not to have had you there, but hopefully at another one.

The brekkie went really well and we got to chat to lots of lovely London cyclists about their commutes and the kinds of facilities they have available (or would like to have). The food and drink went very quickly indeed!

I'm hoping we can make it a regular thing, and might vary the time/day a bit to make it more accessible to a greater number.

Did anyone go to other Bike Week events?

There was a similar breakfast thing at the Millennium Bridge in Lancaster that week. Unfortunately, I cycle in the opposite direction so didn't go. :

There were also a couple of group rides that started from the same bridge, but I didn't go on any of those either because I reckoned they'd be too slow/short. I'm somewhere in the middle; too fast for a general pootling group, and too slow for the road clubs.

    So, short answer: no. :D
