Was it Greg T?
Nope Biondino, Totalnewbie and Bassjunkie.
GregT after lasts Friday's display is a whole level above that... I still shudder from the story he shared with me and Greg66... serious impossible levels of funny...Always cycle as if you are driving a small car.
I would never encourage anyone to ride a bike like any car of any size.Food Chain number = 4
A true scalp is not only overtaking someone but leaving them stopped at a set of lights. As you, who have clearly beaten the lights, pummels nothing but the open air ahead. ~ 'DondaddyD'. Player of the Unspoken Game0 -

[Sesame Street voice] Well today's episode, I learned that cyclists are just as rigid in their way of thinking as motorists and any attempts to get them to think or look at something from a different perspective is nigh impossible. I learned that social programming of the human mind is near all-consuming and 'big brother' has won. [/Sesame Street voice]Food Chain number = 4

If I followed the masses, I'd only cycle on trails, in good weather, on mountain bikes. Oh, and maybe on the pavement.0 -

I don't know, because they have all displayed a level genius, passion and beauty on the football pitch where the emotion caused by watching such brilliance can only describe as wanting to have or having had sex.... 8) - Its the same feeling I get when riding my Kharma... :shock:Food Chain number = 4

I'm rather glad I didn't just jump in and read the last post on this thread now........
DDD - As I sorta said in a rather long-winded way on your Drivers view of cyclist thread I do consider myself as part of traffic when I'm on my bike. Now obviously I can't pull strictly speaking drive my car in the same manor that I ride my bike, one of the reasons that I love using my bike for commuting is that I can AVOID sitting in traffic jams with my l337 filtering skillz :-) Just the same way I'd make progress on a motorbike, should I chose to ride one.
When out in my car I can only progress as fast as the vehicle in front of me, now this could be anything from a FWC to a big artic, but at the end of the day I have to travel at the same speed as them UNLESS I have a safe and reasonable means to get round them, I'm not going to try and race round the vehicle in front of me if it means I end up slightly ahead in a queue....
Funnily enough I did actually have a relevant experience on my short commute home this evening. I'm approaching the first roundabout type junction I need to use which has 3 lanes, left and centre for straight ahead and the right one for heading round the roundabout or up to the station (East Croydon for those familiar with the lovely area!) Lights are red and have obviously been that way for a while as I pass about 10 cars in the RH lane and position myself about 3 ft past the line, with my wheels practically inline with the lane markers. I give a right hand signal so the chap at the front of the queue knows I'm heading that way and wait for the lights to change. In the meantime a black Audi A3 pulls up in the middle lane, I only really acknowledged them as I heard them alongside me and he did a little roll forward......as the lights change I move off and do a shoulder check as I'm coming round and what do I find? The t!t in the Audi is SLOWLY edging his way into the lane just behind me, without so much as an indicator on!!! Of course at this point I'm rather annoyed at his impatience but have a bus right in front of me so can't make a stellar getaway, not that I'm rushing now ;-) As we come round the roundabout I keep an eye on the Audi driver (I was thinking of a Lance style stare but there are some nasty potholes I need to avoid!) The Audi driver did yell "Whats your problem?" but I didn't respond as he didn't look like the kind of person who would take "your idiotic driving" well as an answer.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that even in that situation I didn't feel un-safe and felt very much part of the traffic as I moved off, I'm not sure if this comes down to me being a confident rider or what but I do believe that sometimes you have to assert yourself for drivers to respect you.0 -

Did the OP write this at work
or was it a day off :?:
If it was the former, what employer pays someone to have the freedom to write 8,000 words on an internet forum whilst being paid for doing something else?
Im intrigued
