Im gonna get my self some new tyres for summer riding,

im tempted by the 2 Panaracer XC Fires for £24 from merlin, are these good tyres for the downs in dry or wet weather?

I have been using some all winter and really like them, seem to hang on nicely when the conditions are variable for me.
    Giant TCR advanced 2 (Summer/race)
    Merlin single malt fixie (Commuter/winter/training)
    Trek superfly 7 (Summer XC)
Giant Yukon singlespeed conversion (winter MTB/Ice/snow)

And would it be worth £6 extra to get a pair of folding tyres?

Will save a bit of weight on rolling mass which is always good.

I got some as well, they did good at afan w2 in the wet, and they are good in the dry.

Not great for hard pack as rolling resistance not that great.

But I do a lot of commuting during the week, and ride on weekends.

the fire XC's are an all rounder of the highest order not the best at any thing but not poo either.

you need to get the 127tpi folding version tho as the cheaper 60tpi folding version has a different rubber compound which isnt great
  • can i suggest the Cinders?? they are the follow on tyre from the fire Xc's and suposed to be better, i've not ridden on the fire's so cant compare but Love the cinders! iirc they are not all that much more either?? Great tyre! i use mine all year,
