Focus Cayo 105 Sizing- Help Pls about to buy....

Hi I am looking at buying a Focus Cayo 105 (or Boardman Carbon if I can find one). Wiggle have indicated that I need a XL (58cm) frame but having tried a Trek 1.7 (60cm) and found that a good fit I am now thinking that the XXL (60cm) Focus my be the right option as it is closer to the Trek sizing. As I can only get the Focus from wiggle I don't want the hassle of buying the wrong size and I can't try before I buy.
I am 6ft 3" (189cms) tall/34" inside leg and as mentioned found the Trek 60cm frame to be about right. I have also tried a Boardman road bike and found that the large was to small.
Any advice on sizing before I buy would be helpful pls.... I am planning on using this bike for the london to brighton on don't really have to to buy and then send back and get another size.
thanks in advance guys

Wiggle do have the geometry sizes on their site. If you can get the Trek ones compare the 2.
I ride a 56cm Cayo and the top tube is a little longer than the 56cm cannondale I ran.0 -
Gazzaput - I have compared the Focus geometry sizing to the trek which is why I am confused as to which to plump for. Wiggle told me to get a XL (58cm) but the geometry details on the site suggest that the XXL (60cm) is a closer match to the Trek 1.7 (60cm)geometry that I had felt comfortable onOrange 5 Pro 2008

Did you supply your measurements to Wiggle?
I did this and they told me to get a 56 although I would have got that size anyway.
I'd say with your inside leg measurement a 58 would be better.0 -

Yes I did a sizing check on a website (forget the name) whereby you use a spirit level and a tape measure to get various measurements. I forwarded this to wiggle and they suggested XL (58cm). I was all set to order and then I compared sizing of the Trek I was on and found the XXL(60cm) to be a closer match.Orange 5 Pro 2008

You've got quite a bit of adjustment of saddle position, so the seat tube length - whether it be 58 or 60cm - isn't as crucial as the top tube length.
If the Trek fitted you well - find out from the geometry what the top tube length is, and compare this to the geometry of the Focus (obviously you'll have to take into account the length of the stem too, which will probably be 11 or 12cm for both of a bike of this size, although can of course be adjusted either way)
On a style note, as Focus bikes have little / no slope to their top tubes, the slightly smaller one might fall into line more with current bike sizing fashions. But first and foremost the bike has to fit.
If you put your inseam into this simplified biomechanical fit calculator, it reckons you need a 56.5cm, so I'd say go for the 58. There are other data fields you can add too to give greater accuracy.

Please be aware though that this is just one guy's interpretation of bike sizing, and though it has had a lot of recommendations, it tends to err towards a more aggressive / extreme riding position. I found I needed a size up from it's recommendations.
Wiggle have a returns policy though, and you're spending enough money so get the bike that fits best. If this means having to return it and not being able to do the London-Brighton on it, so what? You'll be riding the bike for years, not just one ride. Bike fit, and subsequent satisfaction with your ride, is very, very important.0 -

Ordered XL (58cms) based on feeback and geometries etc. Also 7 day trial helped me with my decision too. Fingers crossed it fits!Orange 5 Pro 2008

One thing about the 7 day trial. Its for sit on fit only - not a week to test ride the bike.
All returns have to be unused.0 -
Yes no problems. My main worry is sizing so thats fine by me. It may be fine but it's nice to have that fall back.Orange 5 Pro 2008

All returns have to be unused.
Not with Focus and Kiron bikes - they let you ride it

If in doub't go small - you can always work around it - with stem, and seatposts. - If its to big you can't.0

Thanks, thats exactly the advice I took in the end. I was torn between XXL (60cm) and XL (58cm). I choose the XL and it should come tomorrow! Now I need to figure out how I can be at home for he delivery!Orange 5 Pro 2008

Point of note. I've got an assembled Cayo that I've not been able to test ride yet. Work sent me away to London and I came back with a stinker of a cold. I've written to Wiggle to ask them if they will extend the 7 day test ride for me.
I'm surprised they sent it out with a 100mm handlebar stem. They are normally 120mm. Am I going to ruin the handling by changing the stem for a longer one? (Bike is a 54 cm medium)0
