Is roughly what I said this morning...

Waiting behind a bus, off in another world a bit, left foot clipped in right foot down, when I feel something shove my right-hand thigh, knocking me off balance, unfortunately too far and quickly for me to correct with my right leg and before I know what's really going on I'm on my still-clipped-in left leg on the ground!

The utterly mortified lady driving the Audi was already there by the time I got up, bless her, she was so, so, so sorry! She insisted on giving me her insurance details, offered to take me to hospital, offered me a lift to work, started folding her seats down to show me that my bike would fit too...

Absolutely nothing up with the bike, I've got a bit of a graze and I suspect some bruises coming.

I think that lady will be checking obsessively for bikes for some time now.

Now you know that not moving in the middle of the road is just asking for trouble...

Glad that you and the bike are OK.

How? Audi turned across traffic coz you were hidden in the bus shadow? Lost count of the times that's nearly happened to me (mainly southbound on city rd with people turning into worship st). They get 'The Glare'.

glad you and your bike are both fine.

she sound like a nice lady, most of the people will just pretend nothing happened and drive off.

She was turning right into my lane, I was, to be fair, just on the edge of a 'keep clear' and she obviously mucked up the turn a bit and swung a little wide or something; maybe trying to do that thing where you position yourself diagonally across the line of traffic because you can't quite fit.

Really, she should have seen me, I was right in her line of vision, wearing orange. I think maybe she'd forgotten her car had a bonnet. Or maybe she was busy looking the other way.

If I hadn't been away with the fairies I'd probably have been able to get out of her way.

!! I think its safe to say that driving into a brightly coloured stationary object qualifies as an error of judgement.

Driving without Due Care and Attention would spring to mind, however that seems a bit heavy handed when she could have done the usual 'P!55 into the sunset hoping they never got my plate!

Accidents will happen (wherever you have humnas, human error creeps in!), no harm done thank goodness and she at least did the decent and honourable thing, mark one down to experiance!

The traffic was so bad that if she'd tried to leg it she wouldn't have got far! But totally agree that it was very sweet of her to be so concerned.

I'm absolutely fine - got back on the bike and carried on my merry way. Just a bit of a graze and, I suspect, some bruises...

Glad you're ok and the driver did the decent thing.

Knowing me I probably would have broken my wrist or something, I'm so clumsy...glad you are relatively unscathed.

I took out several of the graze's scabby bits with my thumbnail rowing today because some people can't seem to keep the boat level...

That hurt. Quite a bit. Cue some swearing...
