Just been offered an immaculate and hardly used Colnago Lux Dream with Flash Carbon forks, full Ultegra, Mavic Cosmos wheels, ITM Mantis bars and Fizik Pave seat. It looks stunning with lovely colours, white and red with a racer with winning raised arm on a bike on the top of the cross bar. I was wondering how good these bikes are and if any of you guys know? Thanks in advance.

I had one a few years ago. They have the usual Colnago geometry which means they handle brilliantly, and it looked the mutts nutts, but I got rid of mine as it was really harsh. There was a lot of vibration transmitted from the road to the rider and if you hit a pot hole then you really knew about it. I know many other riders who found aluminium too harsh and remember Frank Hoj commenting in one of his Procycling articles that he couldn't get on with his as he felt it was too harsh. The one's with the carbon rear stays may be better but I would organise a test ride before you hand over the cash.

Colnago don't have a reputation for under-building and the Dream is no different. Fantastically stable geometry and handling but a lot depends on your weight and riding style. It really depends on price - although the price of the frame was £1k new I wouldn't pay anything like that today.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
