first bike

hi all,

sorry for being totally clueless but here goes: i'm a mountain biker who needs to get some more miles in for fitness and commuting, i'm after a road bike to to this. what bike would you reccomend for this- cheap as possible

even second hand suggestions would be great

Have a look at what decathlon have to offer -- they often have some very good bikes at great prices.

also halfords - if you can check it out mechanically yourself or have a good reliable bikehut locally. (they do exist!)

Bit hard to help you without a budget..

Lets say 300 quid.. for flat bar theres the Specislized Sirrus, for drops Carrera Virtuoso

Cheap as possible would probably fall to bits
