Im looking for ideas for getting to work either mountain biking or road bike.
Initially lived in Shaw which was only a straight forward 2.5 miles to work near the Huddersfield Road/Ripponden Road junction although there were some great longer distance routes as well.

Just moved to Northern Moor near Northenden and finding a decent route is looking hard to find so any ideas would be great.

Thanks.

It's a b****y awful journey whichever way you go. Millions of sets of traffic lights, loads of potholes, hgv's,buses and homicidal drivers. You deserve a medal if you stick with it on a bike.

I personally would favour heading for Princess Parkway(get on at Yew Tree lane cycle path) and carrying straight on until you hit the roundabout at the Mancunian Way.Then head through the city centre to Oldham Road.At least you will get a 5 mile straight run before you hit town.

  • Thats exactly what i was thinking. Its certainly not the easiest or nicest of rides.
The benefit of living in Shaw was i could go the long way home and had several nice routes too although none too flat
