Hi looking to upgrade from my Gt avalanche 1.0 as i need more power, i am looking for the bike that really really needs to be cranked hard.
I am open to another brand if it comes with better compnents for around the £2000mark.
i'm looking at
Scott Scale 20 for 2200

or
Scott Spark 35

A new bike won't reallly give you more power, only stronger legs obtained through training will give you that! Although a lighter bike will make you faster on the hills I suppose! What kinda riding do you do, because that will determine whether you want a HT or FS. For "cranking hard" a HT would be more efficient.0 -
2k is quite a lot to play with, so you can get into the "race" spec hardtails, or could get a pretty decent FS.
it really depends on what you into. powerwise you wont get better that just fitness.London2Brighton Challange 100k!

I'd say both the Scale & Spark will give you the leap forward you're looking for by egging you on to push harder all the time. These are both xc race capable bikes so may not fit your everyday trail riding though, plus agree with others about fitness, but if you're fit then you'll fly on these bikes!
Advantage on the spark is that you can lock out the rear shock allowing you to go ht when you need.
Also worth looking at the x1 http://www.pedalon.co.uk/acatalog/giant_anthem_x1.html
Have a look at the Spark 30 at pedalon as well, if you're needing to buy accessories over the next 6 months then the pedalon points could swing you - 55 points can give you around £450 accessories bringing the bike into your price rangeScott Scale 30 (08)
Scott Spark 30 (09)0 -
isn't the spark 35 a womens specific design??
i'm pretty sure it is??
take a look at the spark 40 dude, that's around £1800 ish0 -
If riding hard. I'd say the GT was more capable than either of those.0
