What Sort of Bike Do You Have?

I like cycling, I've been cycling since I was a tiny tot and I'm sixty-seven now! To date I have three bikes two of which are Mountain Bikes (an Emelle and a Raleigh) and one Racing bike (a Compton). I would love to own a Marin, Specialized or a Scott Mountain Bike but I never seem to have enough money to buy one that expensive and special. What bikes do you have and are you doing a project at the moment to re-vamp one of the Classic Bikes and bring it back into service again :D?

Ive got two Giant ocr, one in yellow/black, the other black/yellow, both with campag centaur. had a crash on first giant afta only 3 months when a motorbike crashed spilling oil and petrol down a hill causing me to fall off (the twat).

put a claim in and got new frame and rebuilt both bikes so i'm kinda happy :D

Got a Cube ltd team mtb hard tail and a carrea kraken mtb. been doing alot off road cos of back problems and the more upright pos on mtb helps me back.

also got a Joe Waugh 531 frame that I used to race on and a Woodrup also in 531.
Actually think I should sell em cos i dont need them, so if anybody interested pm me.

    giant scr 1
    ridgeback cyclone
    Edinburgh's own make mountain bike
old falcon corsair for the turbo

got all the bikes I need, problem is bike2work is due at our place so it would be daft not to get one. current thinking is to get a Spesh Tricross, so I could do some decent distances but venture off on those bridleways that always look so enticing when you're on your road bike. either that or a decent hardtail. decisions.

  • Where I wrote Compton for my Road Bike, please read Carlton, Circa 1968 (after Raleigh took over the company). I don't know why I wrote 'Compton' for my road bike - I even checked my post before I submitted it. I guess Altzheimer's is setting in Duh! :D[/i]
  • My Emelle is a Keilder Classic in red and black. I've since added more expensive equipment on it, though the rear hub has failed, so I need a new wheel on it. I also have a Raleigh Vulcan with eighteen gears, I'm upgrading that in fits and starts as well as the Carlton, which needs a good rub down as the frame is showing rust -despinte trying to keep it clean. Any suggestions would be neat. Everything else on the bike is original, though I'm thinking of changing the drop handlebars to riser bars as I have a problem with drop handlebars (I have a stiff neck).

Some other info about yours truly, I'm originally from Liverpool (over 30 years ago), though I spent most of my time in Cheshire fishing on the River Weaver when I was a kid - my Uncle''s farm was in Eddisbury...
  • I smiled at Wiliev coming from Birkenhead - I used to spend some time there on Bidston Hill - great place when your a kid - going in the caves underneath - looking at the carvings on the escarpment by the observatory:D - then when I grew up a bit I went to a pub in Higher Bebbington I think called the "Great Eastern" - my grand-father was a chippie on that ship and it eventually killed him as it was a bit of a Jinx ship...but the beer was nice in the pub - Burtons Ales are cool !:D
