Which bike should I buy?

Hello, all. I have come across two bikes that I have redeemed fit for my purposes. Unfortunately, I have also come across a dilemma. I am contemplating which one to buy, The Trek 6000,

Or the Saracen Mantra 3,

I do think that the Mantra is better than the Trek, because of its forks and brakes, but is it better overall?
And are there any other hardtails which are better are under £600 you folks could recommend?

Two very different bikes! The Mantra is a balls out, ride it, crash it, strong and heavy brusier: the 6000 a lighter, longer XC machine.

I also ride a lot on roads but I do occasionally go through thick mud and take it down dirt hills etc. basically like rough mountain biking aswell. I found that the Trek is lighter, but isn't too specific how lighter it is... Would anyone know an average guess?

3 or 4 pounds easy. It doesn't have the best spec for that money - not bad, but bette rout there (see our What Hardtail list)

The fork pictured on the Mantra is wrong, it is a Tora - still a bloody good fork.

Nay Halfords close by? Carrera Fury seems just the ticket, lies right between these too - tough, but light for the price.

I see. Thanks for the suggestion and it helped me resolve my conflicting desicion
I mainly wanted one of these bikes because it was better than the Dart 3 I recently looked up before the Mantra and the Trek.
I will check out the Carrera Furey, see if it meets my standards
