Azonic Saber FS or Spec HArdrock Sport 09 : Frame question.

Gents,
question time.
I've currently got a Hardrock sport disc running Rockshox Reba 302s. 120mm. and standard really apart from that (Hope C2 rear caliper).
There's an Azonic Saber frame on here i was chatting with the bloke about and we almost struck a deal.
Well i went to my LBS for abit of a repair and asked him, he wasn't feeling the love for the Azonic to be honest, 'heavy, from a downhill company' were amongst the reasons.
Most of my riding is minor trail/ridgeway and the downs. However at least once a week we manage Swinley forest. Now the lads have moved to FS's recently and are feeling lots of love.
I love my geometry on the Hardrock, but the lads go on about how 'lovely' 'nice' etc the FS's are (Stumpjumper and Cube AMS125).
My biggest weakness is my downhill skills, i don't have the balls of the other boys.
My greatest relative strength is fitness and climbing.
So i was thinking about jumping to the Azonic... but then i do love the Specialized.
Now, i don't want to discuss "do i need a FS".
The plan would be to whip all the components off the Spec and transfer them all onto the Azonic.
What's your thoughts then gents ?

Test ride it first. It is a heavier duty ride than your HR, not sure all parts would fit and am pretty sure the forks are too short.
If you did go FS, for what you describe, summat like an FSR Xc seems better.0 -
Can't really mate, it's a frame, nowt else. So i'd have to buy it and build to test. At around £60 for component swap, if i buy it, i can't really put all back onto the Spec for another £60 LOL.
Forks too short in what context mate ? p.s i think they are 100mm actually now i think back, the ones you recommended a while back on Evans.
The frame is cheap money... which is obviously part of the appeal. I can't find a FSR frame (unless 2002 or something) for anything like this sort of money. ((although that in itself may be a major answer to it's own questions))Salsa Spearfish 29er

Could be wrong, I thought the Saber required a 5-6 inch fork. Is a fairly old frame.
Yah, is cheap, but no good if wrong ;-)
Is risky!0 -

Price has come down to £200 posted... i have to be honest, it's VERY tempting to take the risk.
Super, when you say 'needs' 5-6 inch fork... does that mean for Optimum performance or to get it built at all ?
I'm not going to be pushing the limits of ANY bike i ride really... so could be a factor ?Salsa Spearfish 29er

Would this be a better option ?
Slightly more money but a much newer frame and maybe more suited ?Salsa Spearfish 29er
