To be honest I live in Wales and have never found a tyre that suits all the different trials / areas I ride.

A tyre that is good on fast loose gravel, like the decents at Cwmcarn, may not be the best in the mud locally or very good on the slate in the Dyfi forest.

The weather looks wet for the weekend so if your off to any of the trail centres be prepapred for a bit of mud. Having said that it's been dry for a week though so the mud shouldn't be to bad - unless you in the Dyfi forest that is!

I ride, or did until my bike was nicked (still awaiting delivery of my new Genesis Core 40) using the Panracer pros, both front and back. Although on my wifes bike (used for the Dyfi enduro) I put a 2.3 continental something or other on the front and a specilized 2.2 something or other on the rear.

Hope this offers some kind of help.

I think high rollers would be fine for all of those. Unless it's really wet and you really want to hammer it.

If you're going to be on grit and wet rock the 42a minion is the choice for the front and a minion 60a for the rear.

Mine have served me well in those conditions.

The Highrollers I have do not inspire me, just don't seem to get on with them.

I've been impressed with the nobby nics I'm ridding at the moment, they remind me of the spesh ground controls I used for many years from the mid 80's.
Now where's that "Get Out of Crash Free Card"

Hi Grantway . I would tend to agree with Robertpb. I ride a lot around Betws y Coed / Capel Curig area

Minions ST's work well on the front (Single ply). They do drag a bit, but hey where not going XC racing, where going trail riding (slow up fast down :D ).

I'm currently runing a Minion ST up front and a Highroller Maxxpro at the rear.(see sig)

The only critisism I have with the Minions (If you can call it that as they're really a dry weather tyre) is that they have a tendancy to block in heavy mud but as your going to be visiting all weather trail centers your not really gonna be seeing any.

What you will be seeing is lots of wet rock covered in a fine paste of rock and clay. Very slippy.

The jury still out as to the performance of the Highroller it seems OK but nothing special it doesn't give me the confidence the Minion does.

I'd go with robertpb's recommendation 42minion on the front and 60a minion on the back.

Make sure you take a tyre boot with you. (old toothpaste tube).
