Let me start by telling you I have nothing to do with this shop other than (as of last weekend) I am now a loyal customer.
My girlfriend and I decided to buy our first XC bikes the other week so I popped into Big Peaks in Ashburton Devon. The shop is a complete one off, Huge selection of high quality bikes and fantastic, freindly and knowlageable staff.
At the time I knew nothing about quality mountain bikes or just how much fun you could possibly have. The guys there gave me a cup of tea and talked me through the many bikes they had in my price range, covering everything from technicality of maintenance right through to ease of ride and they were not afraid to give me personal opinions (as apposed to scripted answers in order to sell the product with the best mark up). After I had chosen the bikes they gave me what I considered a healthy discount, offered me a service in six weeks and then an annual servise for life absolutely free before finally showing me this site which I now rate very highly.
So many thanks to all the guys at big peaks who were so patient with me the other week, you will be pleased to know the Mrs is thrilled with her bike (gary fisher piranah) and I love mine to bits too (genesis core 10).
To all looking to buy a bike bear in mind that these guys will give you top treatment then happilly point you to a trail up in the moors to put your new machine through its paces.
