Just wanting to get an idea as to what SPD's people rate i have been told Shimano AM50 are the muts nuts and i know its horses for courses and some shoes are narrow and others wider so i am not looking for that advice but rather what shoes you rate for a mixture of light and heavy XC verging on AM riding getting in the air abit aswell.

Many thanks

Warren

I bought some XT 770 pedals and they are great, a good range of adjsutment on the spring rate which helps when you are new to cleats! I also bought some shimano M160 shoes which have proved very comfortable so far.
    Adam.

i use specialized bg comps, they were about £70 and had them for a year and a half now, still going strong. found them comfy, pretty stiff (can use them for hike-a-bike if you really need). only weak point i can see is the red plastic release tab for the rear strap, feels pretty flimsy but hasn't let me down yet!
can be chilly in winter, but sealskins seem to sort that out

Shimano or outland elite pedals and a set or Shimano MP66's wil do you nicely
  • I got some Shimano 520 SPD's for under £15.

They were my first pair, and I'm still using.

  • Shimano m520's. Pretty much industry standard. Why bother with anything else?
