Can I get different brake pads to fit to my Ultegra 6600 brakes?
I'd rather have softer pads that wore down a bit quicker but stopped me quicker.
Any recommendations?

I think I may have witnessed a miracle today.
I ordered the Koolstops last night at about 8:30 from wiggle, got an email today confirming the order had been processed at about 8am and I had them fitted to my bike this afternoon.
Same day delivery for free, impressed!
Will give them a spin soon!

How much are you seeing them for?.

I have just got new holders and pads but will be getting Koolstop salmans when I get the chance.

I used to think Swissstop were expensive until I realised they came in packs of 4 (for the inserts for the green compound).
They actually work out about £2 more than Campag and Shimano for a full set which I don't thinkis too bad for a quality brake pad.
Campag inserts are pretty good really but I have heard that Shimano are a little more abrasive on alloy rims

Rather than creating a complete new thread, id thought i would post here. Firstly, i know nothing about bike mechanics, so will not likely be doing this myself!

Ive got a Specialized Allez, and its due to Evans next week for its free service, to tighten everything up and im hoping they sort out my front derailleur alignment. I love the bike, its a fantastic ride, but im not keen on the brakes, they struggle to stop me in the dry, let alone when it is chucking it down :D . Im hoping to purchase some new pads and have Evans fit them whilst they service it, but am wondering what is the best bet to go with.

Ive looked at the koolstops and the swissstops, but neither appear compatable with the equipment on my bike. I cant really afford to replace the full braking system to Dura Ace/Ultegra and 105 in order to get these pads, so was wondering what people would recommend over the stock pads.

    Cheers

    Zoglug,

Had a quick look at the Specialized Allez Elite, and it looks like it has Shimano style brake pads. You could try buying a v cheap pair of pads and seeing if they fit?

Otherwise I know Swisstop make a pair of pads in the carrier that would the screw into the calipers and replace your current carrier and pads, and you could then buy 105 / ultegra/ da compatible pads after that. Only problem is, Swisstop are about £20 for 4 pads, and about £25 for 2 pads with carriers on Wiggle.

My Spec Allez Comp has no-name dual pivot brakes which look pretty similar to 105's & have the same style pads.

Had the Koolstops for a few years. Great. Way, way better than standard shimano pads.
Have now tried the Swisstops and they are even better.
