Proof, PROOF, I tell you, that despite the protestations of the softie southerners, the roads here really are measurably worse than down south.

I lost an alloy when it cracked hitting a huge poithole right on the driving line on the road into Oban a few years back. Right after the bend there was a minibus with a completely destroyed front nearside wheel. He had clearly hit the same damn hole

my favourite thing is guessing where one councils responsibility for the roads ends, and anothers begins!!!

i.e. driving north on the A93...past glenshee...guess where Aberdeenshire starts....yip...where the road gets crap...

driving towards Innerleithen on the granites road....there is a visible line in the road which is remarkably close to the sign that says 'Welcome to the Scottish Borders'....the difference in road quality is incredible.

and don't get me started about driving into england....where the roads are smooth and glitter with gold flecks and good street lighting and free jetpacks for everyone...

alright then there are no gold flecks

You get that exact thing on the back roads behind Donington race circuit. Leicestershire clearly want to get the roads as good as possible and the quality is just amazing, then you hit the Derbyshire border going to Melbourne and it's a rumble strip. To be fair, Leicestershire went a good 20' into Derbyshire but then gave up. After that it's mash your suspension on the car and take your glasses off if you're on a bike 'cos everything is going to bounce and break.

in winter weather, ie proper snow if you cross counties you can see how each county copes/piroties to the extent that the snow plow has gone so far, but no futher....

They've been using that stupid jet thing here too.

It's really not that good ...

The area around the old pothole (which is now a dip) looks like it is covered in gravel too.
