HG70 7/8 speed compatability

Currently have a HG 70 chain/cassette setup (7 speed), with a nice small 11T on the cassette. Wear and tear has gotten the better of me so time for new chain & cassette but I can only find cassettes starting at 12T.
I have seen some 8 speed cassettes that start at 11T, is there any physical difference in the size of the small cog/lockcog between the 7 & 8 speed kind? I know 8 speeds have larger hubs so Im hoping not, as my plan is to buy a 7 speed cassette & a 8 speed one, swap the 11T and 12T ones around and just ebay the 8 speed thats left?
Know it sounds strange/sad/bordering on OCD but 48:11 V 48:12 would reduce my speed a bit...

you should not have any problems."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
