What sort of pump should I get? Just for general leisure use. Have a pump that goes with my pushchair but they are car tire valves not the bike kind.

standard mid-priced presta / shrader dual valve pump will do you, something like a Topeak Peakini or Blackburn Mountain Air Mini Pump can be had for around £10 if you shop around, and they'll do the job and last.

Turned out we had a floor pump in the cupboard, I think I may have bought it for an old pushchair a few years ago without realising it had the wrong type of valve on it.

Pumped up nicely, not rock hard but feels about right, unfortunately my digital pressure gauge is designed for car tyres so I can't use it for verification.
