Hi Everyone
4 members of Hereford Wheelers - Anthony Waddington, Bryn North, Sarah Lloyd-Stephens & team captain Steven Fortey, are taking part in a charity 24-hour relay cycle challenge taking place at the famous 'Top Gear' test track at Dunsfold Park, Surrey for Action Medical Research
Action Medical Research vision is to improve the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of childhood disease and disability by funding the highest quality research most likely to bring benefits to babies, children and their families.
Steven Fortey (Team Captain) said ‘We are all keen cyclist of different levels, but we wanted to take part in an event that the whole team could feel part of. Plus the event is taking place at the famous Top Gear test track and that’s nice and flat. Our tactic will for everyone to ride for 1 hour then change rider as we only need to keep 1 rider on the course at all times. The problem will occur at night & early morning. A few of us aren’t early morning people, so that will be interesting and a fun challenge.’
The team is asking for donations & sponsorship for this 24 hour cycle event and everyone that sponsors the team will be entered into a free draw to win a Paddington Bear. More information about the event can be found at Action Ride 24 or e-mail info@KeepItWheel.co.uk and you can donate to the team via the
Action Medical Research payment site at: http://www.action.org.uk/sponsor/keepitwheel
Ride 24 is the UK’s hottest new charity relay track race. Teams will compete night and day, Le Mans style, on bikes, at Dunsfold Park, Dunsfold, Surrey where the BBC’s ‘Top Gear’ is filmed. Ride 24 takes place on the 27 and 28 June, 2009 from midday to midday. Teams of four will need stamina, speed, skill and strategy in this brutal relay race. The event is recognised and supported by British Cycling and and is registered as a Go Race event.
