I'm REALLY considering buying a power meter. Best cheap one?

I think the average power thing on the garmin isn't a big deal. Maybe I'm using it wrong, but when I'm riding, be it intervals or endurance rides, I'm trying to keep my efforts in a zone, the average (whilst riding) isn't important to me. Of course, WKO shows the correct average including zeroes, so for post ride analysis it's all there.0

Anyone got any experience of the Polar CS600 Power setup?0

However in my experience using both is actually fairly pointless. Firstly you have to have two devices mounted on your stem/bars (the iBike does require a rock steady mount, stem is much better) which is plain ugly. Then of course there is the problem that the Garmin doesn't average data properly, so the power averages are nonsense.
Re the point about the Garmin and power, they have actually added the option in the latest firmware (2.70) to include zeros in the calculation of average power. However people are still not happy because the setting applies to both power and cadence, and most people seem to want zeros included when averaging power, but not when averaging cadence.

Ah at last! Thank you
edit: Although it doesn't matter on the bike, the imported data was screwy in Sportstracks, so I then had to flush the power data and import it from the iBike. We'll see if this fixes the problem...0 -
I see Dave Lloyd has started selling the iBike

Still can't use it on a turbo though, which IMO is the most effective way of training with power!0

I agree.0 -
I don't get how people can claim that these things are accurate. They don't account for the road surface, nor do they account for different riding positions. Am I missing something here? :?
Given Dave Lloyd's laughable review of proper power meters its no surprise that he likes these things because the analysis is simple.More problems but still living....0 -
Does the iBike really work on one wind speed/direction for the entire duration of a ride?
This would mean it would register the same power if you were doing the same speed solo or with a big pack of riders? Also if the wind speed/direction changes, all the measurements after that will be out?
Sounds very limited to me.0
