winstanleys mbuk ad....slx chainset £69.99

Both my son and I need new chainsets and have been looking at the Shimano SLX so last month we got the MBUK June issue through the door and spotted the Winstanleys ad on pages 74+75 ....Great! SLX chainset for £69.99 !
We waited till today and phoned...............
I was told that MBUK made a printing mistake and that the set actually costs £99.99...........I phoned MBUK and was told that Winstanleys provide the ad and that no printing mistake has been made ............I phoned Winstanleys again and spoke to a different operator...............this time I was told that the £69.99 chainsets have already sold out.....I asked whether this had happened since the start of June since they advertised in the June issue and was told the sets were the old type sold at £69.99 last month and that the new ones at £99.99 are due in soon.............
Makes me wonder what's going on.........................................................................
Meanwhile I will be buying a new crankset for my son only--NOT FROM WINSTANLEYS I HASTEN TO ADD !.He needs it more than I do since he does a 12 mile XC trip to school&back daily rain,snow or shine.
We're pretty disappointed though !
