A Good Cassette?

I put on a new chain at the weekend, but haven't had the chance to ride the bike until tonight.
Much to my dismay, it also seems that the cassette has also worn (first time that this has happened to me...amazingly!), as the chain was jumping around on the cassette. The old chain had stretched a little...between 0.75% and 1%.
I've recently bought a new 'Truvativ Firex' crankset, so I may as well wait until I get a new cassette to fit both at the same time.
I may as well get myself a bit of an upgrade, and have been considering SLX or XT cassettes. However, what are the SRAM cassettes like? As good as/same as Shimano? Any compatibilty issues with XT rear mech etc?

no compatibility issues."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I got the 32t XT and I think they are still a good price on merlins, and lighter than sram.0

XT or SLX in my opinion, there's not much separating them, about 20g I think it came to (for 11-32).0
