    Cute kid. :D
    So as the bike.

You need blue grips. And about that saddle, looks strange, is it torn to pieces?
And I desperately want that CRC chain stay protector. 8)

I love my Surge, yours looks great, I quite like the blue paintwork, I just hope its a better quality paintjob than my Surge which pretty much flakes off when you touch it!!!

    I'm jelous of your forks!!!

Looks pretty sweet, that blue looks quite nice too, lets hope the paint job is better done than the previous years frame, mine looks so battered already after 6 months. Should be a fairly light build (for a heavy frame) compared to mine and most other surge builds you see around. Near 31lbs or so?

its quite light but its never going to be a xc whippet lol, hopefully the paint wont drop off but they give you touch up paint but it will be getting a hard life so will look used very soon

Mine weighs an absolute ton - mainly thanks to the Marzocchi Z150's, which are well over 3kgs!!! Then again, I wasn't really trying to build a whippet machine, just a fun bike to ride and mess about with and for doing that its great!
  • hehe... i never even considered weight when I build mine!!
    Just strength!

How you finding it with 140mm?
I changed mine to 140mm (via U-turn) and didn't enjoy it as much as 160mm. Felt a lot more agressive with 160mm.

I prefer mine with 140mm travel, have run forks with 160mm on it but didn't like them as much, not sure on crown height difference however but 160mm felt awfully raked out, guess you just get used to whatever it is you ride.

well got to run it round the local 4x track and it was a blast (after replacing a flat on the 1st corner lol)only thing i found hard was getting used to a hardtail that you dont get away with any mistakes like droping the back wheel over jumps

oh yes lol just got lazy riding full sus all the time

Hardtails are good fun! But I still love my full sus, I think there's a time and a place for both - I definatley have more fun on my hardtail because I enjoy to go all out, mess about over jumps a lot more on my hardtail than my full sus!

...I run my surge with 150mm so bang in the middle of all of you lol!

sorry for bringing this topic back, but i love this bike. i ride dh but wish to buy another long travel hardtail for prcatical reasons. what do you think of it and how does it ride. have you had any problems with it???

    cheers
  • I'm looking at getting a surge to replace my society.

Can anyone give me an idea on sizing? I'm 5" 10 and was looking at the medium frame (15.5" which allegedly rides like a 17.5")

    Thanks!
  • I got a large... i'm 6ft 2. Its about right (to me) but then I wanted a smaller frame because its a very chuckable bike.
