Good hardtails for under £300

Hi my friend has recently got into biking, and as he's only 15 has a relativly small budget, ive suggested the specialized hardrock sport but i dont really know many bikes at this price range ( normally look at bikes 3 times my own budget lolz ) so any help given will be appreciated thanks
